PADA Personality Assessment Equine

PADA – Personality Assessment Equine

Are you wondering how you can work with your horse in therapy, education, or other animal-assisted services?

This digital test is based on validated and reliable assessment tools, and your horse will be evaluated by an ethologist and certified professional.

Personality Assessment

Animals participating in AAS must be selected according to their intended role. They should be healthy, confident, and meet the criteria for risk management. The animals must be suitable in temperament, size, and age, and demonstrate the skills necessary to interact safely and effectively with all participants involved.

Animal Welfare

It is essential that the animals are evaluated by an objective professional with formal education in animal behavior. Many environments and situations in animal-assisted interventions can be demanding for animals — involving loud, sudden noises, unpredictable settings, and unfamiliar people. It is not always easy to recognize when an animal is uncomfortable. Signs of stress may be subtle or resemble behaviors that are often misinterpreted as positive.

Benefits of Personality Assessment

A major benefit of testing the animal is that it helps us understand them better and identify user groups and environments that best suit their individual traits. No animal is suited for everything, but every animal has unique characteristics that make them better suited for certain tasks. This approach makes it easier to provide safe and appropriate working conditions for the animals, and allows us to create interventions that are safer and better tailored for both the user and the animal. In this way, we ensure that the animal's strengths are used in the best possible way.

About the PADA Equine Assessment

The PADA Equine assessment is a digital test designed to be conducted where the horse is located, without the need for travel or external evaluators on site.

Once you have purchased the assessment, you will receive a detailed manual with step-by-step instructions for how to carry out the test. This includes guidance on how to record and document the horse’s responses. The completed materials are then submitted to a certified PADA Evaluator for review.

Based on the submitted documentation, you will receive:

  • A personalized personality profile of your horse

  • A certificate confirming the successful completion of the PADA Equine assessment

This process ensures a stress-free and familiar environment for the horse, while maintaining professional standards for evaluation. The assessment is grounded in validated and reliable tools, and all evaluations are performed by trained professionals in animal behavior and welfare.
