Conference on Slovakia

Last week the Norweigan Center of Anthrozoology was attending a conference in Zelená Lagúna - Domaša (Slovakia) together with colleagues from Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

The conference was about animal-assisted interventions. The Norweigan Center of Anthrozoology contributed with lectures on animal welfare in AAI and AAI on farms. There were also other lectures from practitioners and researchers from Slovakia and our Polish friends from Animal for People organization. These lectures were about AAI in hospitals, the expansion and development of AAI in Slovakia, dog training and the implementation of interventions with dogs.

Perhaps the most interesting and educational part were questions and discussions from very engaged participants. There are clear cultural differences, but also an incredible number of similarities between the countries when it comes to the practice of AAI and the status this professional field has.

The conference was the final product of a project funded by Erasmus +. The Norwegian Center of Anthrozoology is very happy of being involved in these projects. It is fun to be able to contribute to the development of this exciting field in Europe. In addition, it is extremely educational and developing for us to be able to exchange knowledge from the best researchers and practitioners in the field.

Many thanks to @Slavka Duplakova for organizing this great project.
